US Cluster Hops are one of the oldest American hop varieties. Formerly accounting for the bulk of the hops grown in the US, it has given way to other hops as we expand our beer needs but it is still a must have hop for anyone looking to recreate traditional American Lager styles.
Cultivated from the Dutch and British settlers from indigenous hops, this is a strong and very underrated hop. Being duel purpose it serves to both bitter and provide hop aroma to your brew.
Flavor Profile
Abbey style beers are known for their high alcohol content and mild estery flavors, and brewing them is best done with a suitable yeast strain. Safbrew BE-256 (formerly called Abbaye) ferments fast with very high attenuation, contributing subtle, well-balanced aromas. In high-gravity brews, it can produce beers with up to 11% ABV. Or used for lower-alcohol styles, it gives a dry, crisp finish that makes for refreshing session beers or other light styles.
